A Specialist In High Volume Lipo
Board certified with over 15 years of experience working with plus size patients, Dr. Younai specializes in large volume liposuction and plus size tummy tuck procedures. For people seeking a dramatic difference in their appearance, large volume liposuction combined with a tummy tuck can be a long time dream come true.
What Is Large Volume Liposuction?
The definition varies in the plastic surgery literature, but generally this refers to removing 4 to 5 liters of fat in one session. In some cases, high volume lipo may remove even more than that. Prior to the development of a technique called tumescent liposuction, this would have been medically impossible.
In the early days of liposuction, there was a large volume of blood aspirated with the fat and this posed too much of a risk for plus sized patients. The only option was to undergo multiple surgeries over a period of years. This is no longer necessary as the tumescent technique favored by Dr. Younai has proven to be safe to use on plus sized patients.
Very Little Blood Loss
There is very little blood loss with this technique and medically it has other advantages for the surgeon. Patients can expect to lose several sizes during one session. This not only is a huge boost to self esteem, but it almost instantly improves underlying conditions such as high blood pressure by the removal of a large volume of fat.
Additionally, patients experiencing large, painful buildups of fat should consult our lipedema treatment page for more information. Feel free to visit this page if you suspect you might have lipedema, or if you simply want to know more about the condition.

Good Candidates For Large Volume Liposuction
Dr. Younai finds that the best candidates for this procedure are those who have stable or declining weight and have no serious underlying medical conditions. Patients with asthma, sleep apnea, high blood pressure or pulmonary problems may still be acceptable candidates if the condition is well controlled and under supervision by their primary physician.
A medical evaluation will be done on all prospective patients to ensure their safety. The best liposuction specialist Los Angeles and Beverly Hills provide has many years of experience not only in liposuction procedures but in all aspects of general and plastic surgery.
Your Safety Matters
Dr. Younai is aware of any potential problems that may interfere with his patient’s success and safety.
Dr. Younai will recommend alternative solutions for his patients who may not immediately be good candidates for large volume liposuction. Additionally, patients who are gaining weight or have eating disorders are not good candidates for this type of surgery for the simple reason that they will not retain the benefits of their surgery until their diet and exercise is corrected.
Patients must have a good attitude and realistic expectations of the end result of their procedure. While large liposuction does provide an immediate improvement in weight and girth, it takes time for the final results to be fully realized.
Prior to surgery, patients receive the usual preoperative screening and testing and in cases of underlying conditions, must have these conditions well controlled. Patients will receive their surgery at the Regency Surgical Center located on the first floor of Dr. Younai’s practice.
This facility is fully accredited by Medicare, and two accreditation agencies, the AAAASF and the AAAHC. Blue Shield has also designated Regency Surgical Center as an approved facility.
Patients will have a general anesthetic for this procedure and will be constantly monitored by a board-certified anesthesiologist during their surgery and recovery time.
Liposuction Method Used
Dr. Younai uses the tumescent liposuction method in conjunction with the Super Wet technique as this limits the amount of lidocaine used and prevents toxicity from developing.
The tumescent method infuses large amounts of diluted lidocaine which is an anesthetic, and epinephrine which is a vasoconstrictor. The use of this method has two main benefits; the lidocaine stays in the system after surgery, reducing the post operative pain, and the epinephrine constricts the capillaries in the fat layer, virtually eliminating blood loss.
After Your Procedure
After the surgery, patients will recover in the postoperative recovery area, monitored by registered nurse specialists.
For large volume liposuction patients, it is usually recommended that they stay overnight so they can be monitored and helped with any issues such as pain management and nausea.
Patients will be advised of this during the preoperative visits and in some cases will be allowed to return home if there is a competent adult available to provide 24-hour care. Dr. Younai will assess the need depending on the extent of the surgery and the overall health of the patient.
Follow Up Appointment
Patients will return to Dr. Younai 24 to 48 hours after surgery for evaluation and further instructions regarding compression garments, care of incision sites and any issues that the patient is dealing with.
Recovery depends on many factors that are unique to each patient and on the extent of the surgery. Patients will experience post operative swelling and bruising which diminishes over time. Pain and nausea medication will be administered while in the recovery area and will be sent home with the patient when discharged.
Patients will be given full instructions on how to care for their incision sites, any drainage tubes that may have been inserted and will be given some general guidelines on what to expect for the first few weeks.
