About Microneedling
Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment that enhances the health and appearance of your skin. This treatment consists of using a small handheld device to create tiny micropunctures on your skin’s surface. This elevates the natural production of collagen, an essential protein that keeps your skin elastic and firm. (1) Your specialist can perform microneedling to address several skin concerns and conditions, including:
- Visible Signs of Aging
- Uneven Skin Tone
- Rough Skin Texturing
- Pigmentation Irregularities
- Acne Scars
- Traumatic Scars
- Varicella (Chickenpox) Scars
- Hypertrophic Scars
- Stretch Marks
With microneedling, you can finally address all of the concerns your skincare products cannot, allowing you to achieve clearer, smoother, and brighter skin.
Benefits
Microneedling can provide many benefits. Several of these include:
- Stimulated Collagen Production: Microneedling will enhance your skin’s collagen production, an essential protein necessary for maintaining the health and well-being of your skin.
- Youthful-Looking Aesthetic: Your specialist can perform this treatment to reduce visible fine lines, wrinkles, creases, or crow’s feet, allowing you to restore a more refreshed appearance.
- Smoother Skin: This treatment can soften rough or uneven patches of skin, providing softer, smoother-looking, and feeling skin.
- Reduced Scarring: Microneedling can reduce the appearance of acne scars, burn scars, trauma scars, hypertrophic scars, and varicella (chickenpox) scars.
- Enhanced Absorption: Microneedling allows skin products to penetrate deeper into the skin, enhancing their effects and benefits.
- Minimal Downtime: You can return to most of your daily activities immediately after treatment, allowing you to enhance your skin without any significant disruptions to your routine.
- Safe for All Skin Types: Microneedling can effectively address concerns across both lighter and darker skin, making most patients eligible for this treatment.
- Quick Treatment Duration: A full facial microneedling treatment can finish in less than 30 minutes, making it easy for busier patients to attend their appointment. (2)
- Tailored Treatment Plans: Our team of specialists tailors each treatment around your skin type and tone, skin concerns, and desired results, ensuring personalized results that meet each of your expectations.
Candidates
Candidates for microneedling include anyone interested in enhancing the texture, tone, elasticity, and health of their skin. Microneedling is safe for all skin types and tones, making most patients suitable candidates. Prospective patients should also be in good general health and hold realistic expectations.
We do not recommend microneedling for anyone with active skin infections, active acne, those with keloidal tendencies, or immunosuppressed individuals. (1) Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should also delay their treatment.
Personal Consultation
During your consultation, your specialist will meet with you individually to discuss the details of your microneedling treatment. They will assess your medical history, converse with you over your specific concerns, and listen to your ideal results. They will also perform a physical examination to evaluate the condition and quality of your skin. Your specialist will use this information to establish an effective treatment plan. They will also take the time to address any questions or concerns you may have about your treatment, as we want you to feel fully informed and comfortable.

Preparation
After scheduling your appointment, your specialist will provide you with a set of simple instructions to help you prepare for your treatment. They may direct you to:
- Discontinue taking medications and supplements that contain blood-thinning properties.
- Augment your skincare routine to avoid using harsh products that may affect your skin’s natural barrier function.
- Protect your skin leading up to your treatment by wearing plenty of sunscreen and moisturizer.
- Arrive at your appointment with clean skin that is free from makeup or skincare products.
Each of these instructions will help optimize your results and ensure a smooth procedure.
Procedure
Your microneedling treatment will begin with a member of our team cleansing your skin before applying a topical anesthetic. Once you feel comfortable, your specialist will move a small device fashioned with rows of tiny needles over your desired treatment area. The device will create tiny micropunctures on the surface of your skin. Your specialist will continue this until they address the entire treatment area. They will then apply an ointment to protect and soothe your skin.
You can expect your treatment to last between 15 and 30 minutes, with the exact duration varying based on the details of your treatment plan.
Recovery
After your treatment, you will be free to return to most of your daily activities. You may experience temporary redness, swelling, or tenderness around the treated areas, but these effects will subside within several days.
As your skin heals, we may advise you to avoid direct and excessive sun exposure and to wear sunscreen when going outside. You should avoid using harsh skincare products or wearing makeup for the first 24 to 48 hours after treatment. It is also important to stay hydrated.
Your specialist will give you a more detailed set of instructions after your treatment. If any questions or concerns arise after your treatment, we ask that you contact us so that we may provide you with any guidance or support you may need.
Results
The results of your microneedling treatment will develop over time as your body continues to produce more collagen. You will notice improvements in your skin’s appearance as pigmentation concerns, facial scars, and visible signs of aging reduce and soften. You may also notice enhancements in the texture, tone, and overall clarity of your skin.
The refined results of your treatment can take between 3 and 6 months to see, with most patients requiring a series of regular treatment sessions to achieve their desired results. Microneedling creates long-lasting effects, with results lasting between several months and years. (2)
Corresponding Procedures
Platelet Rich Plasma Facial
A platelet-rich plasma (PRP) facial is a treatment that uses a concentrated solution of your plasma to enhance the texture and appearance of your skin. Our specialists create this serum by taking a small sample of your own blood and processing it through a centrifuge to separate each layer. When PRP is applied to the skin, it stimulates the release of different growth factors, triggers fibroblast proliferation, and elevates your body’s collagen production. This complements the effects of microneedling by enhancing your body’s collagen production, leaving you with even clearer, healthier skin.
